Elixir Essential is a transparent true-peak limiter plug-in for immersive and stereo mixing, offering multistage processing and dual preset morphing for precise loudness control.

Core Limiting Purpose
Elixir Essential is a transparent peak limiter based on the algorithm from the legacy Elixir v3. Its design focuses on preserving the natural timbre of audio while controlling true peak levels, a result trusted by recording and mastering engineers for nearly a decade.
The plug-in meets ITU-R BS.1770 and EBU R128 loudness norms for true peak output. It supports up to 16 channels of processing at sample rates up to 384 kHz, making it suitable for broadcast, post-production, and mastering applications where accurate peak control is essential.
Immersive and Multichannel Workflows
For immersive audio, Elixir Essential can handle up to 32 channels, aligning with Dolby Atmos workflows. You can use it to control the dynamics of multiple 7.1.2 beds feeding a Dolby renderer, or to limit your monitoring level.
The interface has been modernized with a scalable GUI in six steps, allowing visual control over the entire audio content. Input and output gain controls (from -12 to +12 dB) give you full command over the gain structure, both at the limiter input and output stage.
Multistage Processing and Morphing
Elixir Essential introduces a concept called Stages, where limiting occurs in multiple steps for more precise results. For example, with a threshold of -3 dB and three stages, the first limits at -1 dB, the second at -2 dB, and the third at -3 dB, with analysis at each stage.
The plug-in includes two preset/parameter slots, A and B, which you can load with different parameter sets. A morphing slider blends between them, and enabling the automation button exposes the slider to host automation for real-time creative tweaks.
Practical Operation and Presets
To achieve quick results, set the input level, adjust the threshold for desired limiting, and enable Make Up for gain compensation and loudness addition. A true bypass routes the incoming signal directly to the output, ensuring a smooth transition between processed and clean audio.
New presets match the true-peak recommendations for platforms like YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and Netflix. The workflow supports saving global presets that include both A/B settings and the morphing slider position for efficient recall.
