Verberate Immersive 2 is a professional algorithmic reverb plugin for immersive formats, offering natural-sounding tails, independent control of early reflections and reverb, with efficient CPU use and plugin formats for Mac and Windows.
Purpose and Core Technology
Verberate Immersive 2 is an algorithmic reverb plugin designed for immersive audio production up to 9.1.6, including Dolby Atmos and spatial audio formats. It provides a time-variant design that generates natural, resonance-free reverb tails without metallic artifacts or phase issues, creating an organic sense of depth suitable for dialogue, music, and game audio.
The plugin includes two late reverb algorithms: the new Vivid Hall, which is time-variant and resonance-free, and the Legacy Hall from the previous version. It also offers independent processing for early reflections and the reverb tail, with frequency dispersion modelling to emulate mechanical plate reverbs and optional swirl modulation for vintage-style digital reverb textures.
Key Capabilities and Controls
The plugin provides separate processors for early reflections and the reverb tail, with integrated panners for the dry signal, early reflections, and reverb. This allows positioning each component independently in the surround field. Users can shape the sound with visual panners, divergence controls, and a parametric decay editor to adjust reverb time by frequency.
A built-in 5-band EQ is included on both input and output, with graphical visualization of frequency response. The user interface is uncluttered, featuring a preset manager with a large number of factory presets. Users can save, load, and categorize their own presets for efficient workflow.
Workflow and Efficiency
Verberate Immersive 2 is built for efficiency in large immersive sessions. Its algorithmic engine delivers high-fidelity room modeling at a lower CPU cost compared to convolution-based reverbs, making it suitable for sessions with hundreds of channels and multiple instances. Preset switching is instantaneous, allowing auditioning different spaces during playback without interruptions.
The plugin supports sample rates up to 192 kHz and is available in VST, AU, and AAX formats on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Windows. EUCON integration provides tactile control on Avid surfaces with default-mapped parameters, enabling quick adjustments to reverb times, 3D positioning, and EQ from physical faders and encoders.
Practical Applications
The plugin is used in film and TV mixing for placing ADR in virtual rooms, expanding lead vocals in 7.1.4 Atmos sessions, and building cinematic transitions with reverb tails. It supports immersive formats like 7.1.4 and 9.1.6, making it useful for music producers crafting immersive tracks and post engineers handling dialogue, ADR, and Foley.
Game sound designers can use it for believable environments. The separate control of early reflections and tail ensures realistic reflections that blend without comb filtering. The frequency-dependent decay editor allows shaping reverb tails to match the source material, providing creative control for a range of applications.
