It also contains classic reverb gear impulses, including EMT plates, spring reverbs, and digital units like the 480, 224, RMX 16, and 250.
The redesigned IR Browser makes navigating this collection straightforward. Photos of rooms replace text lists, and you can click to select instantly. The browser is resizable, supports searching by name, and allows you to organize favorites, filter by reverb time (RT60), and find similar-sounding spaces. Gapless loading ensures smooth switching between IRs.
Shaping and Practical Workflow
Altiverb 8 provides controls to shape the reverb without losing the room’s character. The decay control applies an exponential decay to shorten reverb time. Brightness adds high-frequency content, and damping lets you adjust three separate frequency bands independently. A four-band equalizer, with Baxandall bass and treble shelves, works on the wet signal only, minimizing phase issues.
For advanced control, the positioner tab (available in mono and stereo input versions) lets you move the virtual speaker within the space. You can also adjust the direct sound’s gain and color, and toggle early reflections and the reverb tail separately. The size control transposes room modes and shortens or lengthens the tail, while pre-delay can sync to host tempo.
