BeatQuake is a characterful audio plugin by W.A. Production for adding warmth, punch, and texture to drums and other sounds. It offers four shaping knobs, psychoacoustic color modes, and presets.

Purpose and Design
BeatQuake is designed to make beats feel more dynamic and full through a simple interface. It combines psychoacoustic filtering with tuned controls, built by engineer Emrah Celik who works on many drum mixes annually. The plugin is not limited to drums; it can also add weight to bass lines, enrich pads, or polish vocals.
Each of its four main knobs—Tone, Enhance, LoFi, and Shape—offers a different tonal character. They can be adjusted individually or combined to create your own blend. With 100 discrete points on each knob, the number of possible combinations is vast, allowing for extensive experimentation without a complex layout.
Key Shaping Controls
The Tone control adds a blend of classic warmth and harmonic enhancement, inspired by Pultec-style EQs and a modern multiband exciter. This can deliver a smooth V-shape curve for a final touch on beats. Enhance boosts attack and dynamics, adding sub-harmonic power to the low end.
LoFi introduces tonal variation with a texture reminiscent of 12-bit samplers, giving a modern lo-fi effect. Shape uses a high-quality compressor algorithm to handle dynamic fluctuations, which is especially useful for 808s or tracks with changing levels. Together, they cover a wide range of sound-shaping tasks.
Color Modes and Workflow
A central control offers four psychoacoustic pre-filtering color modes: Shock, Rift, Tremor, and Fault. Shock punches up attack while keeping low end clean. Rift stretches sustain and adds gritty texture for rumble. Tremor delivers powerful low end, while Fault boosts the range above 60Hz for clarity.
These modes are designed to preserve transients and low-end energy with a single knob. The workflow is streamlined with an A/B comparison feature to test different chains, plus copy and paste for quick experiments. Undo and redo buttons let you revert changes, and a click and pop-free bypass ensures smooth auditioning.
Practical Applications and Presets
In a drum context, BeatQuake can make kicks crunch and snares slam. For music producers, it can transform lifeless beats into powerful, dancefloor-ready tracks. Its one-knob color modes make it fast to dial in a new character without menu diving, which is ideal for mixing and sound design.
The plugin includes a preset manager with options for drums, percussion, breakbeats, and other audio types, serving as starting points for tweaking. You can save and categorize your own presets for future recall. The interface is resizable, and input/output faders help monitor gain, with an AGC button and limiter to manage levels.
