An orchestral engine that uses algorithmic particle emission and a mod-wheel-linked modulation system to create ever-evolving, complex soundscapes from 25 sampled instrument patches.

Purpose
Time Textures is an orchestral instrument designed to generate continuously shifting soundscapes that cannot be achieved with simple pre-recorded sample loops. It bends the sonic essence of orchestral instruments by folding them into themselves, creating new and complex characters that support film scores or contemporary compositions.
The engine manipulates quality-recorded orchestral sounds using a simple modulation design, allowing you to warp and bend 13 instruments into new textures. It enriches traditional orchestral arrangements with liveliness and emotion, making it suitable for composers seeking organic movement and depth beyond static samples.
Key capabilities
The engine controls four basic parameters separately for both instrument layers: dynamic control, movement, octaves, and speed. These are tied to the mod wheel, letting you sculpt the sonic progression in real time. Dynamic control ranges from intimate to powerful, while movement adds particles of special articulations to create morphing sensations.
Octave control widens or narrows the dynamic spectrum, and speed determines the density of the texture by adjusting playback rate of particles. Additional parameters include attack volume, seed, note select, spread, gain, and pan, giving detailed control over the emitter and stereo field.
Workflow
In practice, you play a note or chord, and the engine emits particles at different seeds, creating a constantly moving wall of sound. By moving the mod wheel, you can dynamically change which parameters are affecting the texture, such as blending in articulations or altering octave spread. This allows for expressive performances without complex editing.
The instrument includes over 200 presets divided by feel and character. Naturalistic presets merge with the mod wheel for a new spectrum of sounds, while cinematic presets expand the orchestral sounds with a wide effects chain for blooming soundscapes. Each preset can be customized by adjusting the emitter parameters.
Practical applications
Time Textures is ideal for film scoring, ambient music, and any genre demanding evolving backgrounds. It can add depth to traditional orchestral arrangements, conjuring up emotion and movement. The mod-wheel control makes it performance-friendly, allowing live adjustments during a session.
The 25 instrument patches include strings, woodwinds, brass, and keys. String patches have tremolo and staccato; woodwinds have tenuto, triplet tongue, and staccato; brass includes tongue staccato, flutter marcato, and muted staccato; keys include harp harmonics and prepared grand piano. A slider fades these articulations into the texture, enabling a wide range of timbres.
