Core Purpose
SynthMaster One is a wavetable software synthesizer designed for ease of use while offering deep sound design capabilities. It shares the engine with its larger sibling, SynthMaster, but adds true wavetable synthesis and a simplified layout. The focus is on inspiring creativity through a rich factory preset library and intuitive controls.
With two stereo oscillators that support up to 16-voice unison, each with detune, pan, tone, and phase spread parameters, you can create complex, supersaw-like textures. The oscillators generate basic waveforms like sine, square, and sawtooth, as well as single-cycle waveforms, each with 17 spectral, bend, sync, pulse, and quantize algorithms for shaping.
Key Capabilities
The synth implements true wavetable synthesis, allowing you to import your own wavetables via drag-and-drop or use the included library. Its semi-modular architecture provides two oscillators with two sub-oscillators each, two zero-delay feedback filters, four ADSR envelopes, two LFOs, and a 16-step arpeggiator/sequencer.
Sub-oscillators can operate in five connection modes, enabling ring, amplitude, phase, or frequency modulation. Filters include ladder, diode ladder, state variable, and bite types, with parameters like drive and acid for analog-style character. Eleven effects—distortion, LoFi, ensemble, phaser, EQ, compressor, vocoder, delay, chorus, tremolo, and reverb—can be routed across six insert slots.
Workflow and Interface
The preset browser allows searching by instrument type, attributes, style, or author, making it easy to find the right sound. Each preset includes eight easy knobs and two XY pads, assignable by the sound designer, and can be linked to MIDI controllers via a simple MIDI Learn feature. The arpeggiator supports classic modes and sequence, chord, and arpeggiate modes.
You can import monophonic or polyphonic MIDI patterns directly into the arpeggiator by dragging and dropping a MIDI file onto the plugin window. Microtuning supports Scala files, either per preset or globally. The interface offers multiple skins, and the user interface editor (included with SynthMaster) allows customization of existing skins or creating new ones.
