Audio effects and utilities

Blue Tubes Analog TrackBox is a vintage-styled plugin combining tube saturation, gate/expander, compression, and EQ in one unit for warming, cleaning, and shaping audio tracks.

Blue Tubes Analog TrackBox

Integrated Tube Front End

Blue Tubes Analog TrackBox unifies the Tube Emulator, CP2S compressor, and PEQ332 equalizer into a single valve-style processor. Its purpose is to provide a flexible analog-style front end for any audio system, allowing users to shape tone, dynamics, and frequency content within one interface.

The Tube-Emulator section offers a unique switch between Single-Triode and Dual-Triode modes, each with distinct sonic characteristics. Independent Amount and Color controls allow overdrive of this stage, varying harmonic content from subtle warmth to more aggressive saturation. A bypass switch enables quick comparison with the dry signal.

Noise Gating and Compression

The Gate/Expander section tames unwanted background noise by reducing or cutting signals below a user-set threshold. Attack and Release parameters control how fast the gate responds, making it suitable for cleaning up noisy tracks without affecting the desired audio.

The Compressor, modeled after vintage analog units, provides a classic feedback response. Controls include threshold, attack, release, ratio from 1:1 to 10:1, and makeup gain up to ±15dB. A Pre/Post EQ switch routes the compressor before or after the equalizer, offering flexibility in processing order.

Parametric and Shelving Equalizer

The Equalizer section delivers two parametric bands (low-mid and high-mid) with center frequency, bandwidth-Q, and amplitude control, plus low-shelf and high-shelf filters. A high-pass filter from 20Hz to 80Hz and a low-pass filter from 10kHz to 18kHz add further frequency management.

Each band provides ±15dB of gain and variable bandwidth, covering a wide spectrum from 40Hz to 16kHz. This allows precise tonal shaping, from removing low-end rumble to adding presence or taming harshness. An EQ bypass switch facilitates A/B comparison of the equalized and unprocessed signals.

Workflow and Practical Applications

In mixing, TrackBox can be inserted on individual tracks or buses to apply tube saturation, compression, and EQ in a single pass. The compressor’s pre/post EQ option is useful for controlling dynamics before tonal shaping or for a more reactive response when placed after EQ.

The gate is effective for cleaning noisy recordings prior to compression or EQ. Input and output level controls provide ±15dB trim, and a peak-limiter helps manage levels. The vintage-style interface is easy to use, making it suitable for engineers who prefer a familiar layout without complex menus.

Key features

  • Combines Tube Emulator, CP2S compressor, and PEQ332 EQ
  • Dual-triode tube mode with Amount and Color controls
  • Gate/expander with threshold, attack, release controls
  • Compressor with threshold, attack, release, ratio, makeup, pre/post EQ switch
  • EQ: two parametric bands plus low/high-shelf, HPF/LPF, ±15dB gain
  • Input/output level controls and peak-limiter
  • Bypass switches for tube, gate, compressor, and EQ sections

Best for

Shaping individual tracks or buses in a DAW where combining tube saturation, dynamics control, and equalization is needed. It suits mixing tasks like adding warmth to vocals, controlling bass, cleaning noisy recordings, or creating vintage-style tones without using multiple plugins.
