Flagship Synthesizer SynthMaster 3
SynthMaster 3 is the flagship all-around modular software synthesizer from KV331 Audio. It supports multiple synthesis methods including virtual analog, additive, vector, wavetable, granular, phase modulation, phase distortion, frequency modulation, pulse width modulation, ring modulation, physical modeling, and SFZ sample playback. This makes it a versatile tool for a wide range of sound design tasks.
The instrument’s modular architecture allows each instance to have up to 16 layers, with each layer containing up to 16 modules. Modulation is handled by up to 32 sources per layer, including ADSR envelopes, multistage envelopes, step LFOs, noise LFOs, and scalers. The routing tab provides a visual representation of signal flow, allowing modules and connections to be managed intuitively.

SynthMaster 3 introduces several new oscillator and effect modules. The granular oscillator applies granular synthesis on samples, multisamples, or wavetables, with up to 16 voices and 512 grains per oscillator. The VAnalog oscillator generates waveforms in real-time using curve segments, with a quality parameter for oversampling to reduce aliasing. The waveshaper offers multiple distortion algorithms plus a custom curve drawing mode.
The instrument also includes a phaser filter, formant filter, and noise LFO for sample-and-hold effects. A comprehensive waveform editor allows single-cycle waveform creation via curve segments or freehand drawing, while the wavetable editor provides seven types of effects for sculpting. A multi-sample editor supports drag-and-drop import and SFZ export. The arpeggiator/sequencer per layer features random values per step and MIDI output routing.
Workflow and Usability
SynthMaster 3 offers three distinct views for editing: Layer View for single-layer parameters, Track View for keyboard/velocity zones, voicing, unison, arpeggiator, and sequencer settings across multiple layers, and Mix View for insert effects and send parameters. The preset browser includes advanced search filters by product, author, bank, instrument type, attributes, styles, and name. Instant previews are available for presets with NKS previews.
SynthMaster 3 is backward compatible with SynthMaster One and SynthMaster 2. If those products are installed and authorized, their presets appear in the browser and can be loaded in full or as layers. The waveform editor supports creating waveforms via curve segments or freehand drawing with spectrum editing. Wavetables can be exported in WAV format for use in other synthesizers, and multisamples export in SFZ format.
