Virtual instruments and libraries

A deeply sampled electric guitar library with three separate pickups, realistic strumming and solo modes, patterns, song building, and an array of amps and effects for versatile sound shaping.

Strategy

Instrument Overview and Sound Sources

Strategy is an electric guitar sample library based on an iconic instrument with three single-coil pickups. Each pickup was recorded separately, giving you access to the standard five positions and independent volume control for each, allowing for custom blends beyond the physical switch.

The library includes ten realistic effects and eight modeled amps, with adjustable microphone placement for each amp. This setup provides a solid toolkit for shaping the guitar’s tone. It is designed for both accompaniment and lead work, and includes a range of articulations plus a dedicated solo mode.

Alternatively, for sparse content, write a concise entry covering the pickup options, amp/effects overview, and deep sampling.

Chord and Pattern Capabilities

The chord recognition engine identifies keyboard chords from a database and converts them to authentic guitar voicings. You can edit any chord or add new ones. The chord mode supports strumming and fingerpicking with realistic up/down strokes, muting, and legato.

The patterns mode provides a library of strumming and picking patterns that can be looped, adapted to tempo and meter, and modified in real time. You can create custom patterns with the pattern maker and assign them to trigger keys, enabling full song playback. A chord hammers feature adds left-hand hammer-ons and pull-offs during play.

If the source lacks detail, focus on the pattern maker basics and chord editing.

Solo Mode and Articulation Control

Solo mode uses a smart hand-position system that automatically selects the appropriate string for a played note, mimicking a real guitarist’s choices. You can disable this to use a fixed position. The legato engine triggers hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides automatically based on interval.

Key switches provide access to palm mutes, harmonics, and percussion sounds, plus legato control. The release, fret, and pre-note volumes are adjustable in the preferences panel. There are also options for pick or finger playing in each mode.

For sparse information, simply list the available articulations and the legato behavior.

Song Building and Playback Workflow

The song builder panel lets you assign specific chords to single notes, so pressing one key triggers a preset chord. By setting up all twelve notes, you can play progressions easily. Presets offer song ideas and chord progressions.

Combining song builder assignments with patterns, you can play an entire song using just two keys. This is aimed at keyboardists who don’t need advanced playing techniques. The pattern maker also allows sharing patterns with others, expanding your options.

If not enough source detail, describe the chord-to-note mapping and its benefit for quick composition.

Key features

  • Three separate single-coil pickups with independent volume control
  • Eight modeled amplifiers with variable microphone placement
  • Ten realistic effects including wah, delay, and reverb
  • Strum engine with chord recognition and editing
  • Pattern maker for custom strumming and picking patterns
  • Song builder for assigning chords to single notes
  • Solo mode with automatic hand position and legato engine

Best for

Strategy is best for composers and producers who need realistic electric guitar accompaniment or solos without playing the instrument, especially in pop, rock, and country styles. Its pattern and chord features allow quick song creation, while the deep sample set and amp models suit detailed sound design needs.
