Krotos Weaponiser Basic is an introductory weapon sound design plugin with a curated library of recordings, presets, and real-time synthesis tools for creating dynamic audio assets.

Purpose and Library
Weaponiser Basic serves as an entry point for sound designers needing professional weapon effects. It includes a starter library of 952 assets: 515 edited weapon recordings, 4 weapon types, 398 sweeteners, 39 impulse responses, and 70 presets. The tag-driven browser allows filtering by weapon type, microphone position, or sound category, with drag-and-drop loading into the plugin’s engines.
The library covers real-world firearms like shotguns, rifles, machine guns, and pistols, plus weapon Foley. Sweeteners and impulse responses add depth or room ambience. This collection is designed to be immediately usable, helping you create dynamic assets without extensive additional editing. The presets offer instant starting points for common weapon sounds.
Sound Design Engines
Each shot can be broken into four layers: Onset, Body, Thump, and Tail. You load audio into these engines and then sculpt each layer independently. For each engine, you can adjust envelope levels and speeds, with randomization options for variation. The synth feature adds pitch, FM, or AM synthesis, letting you combine or replace the original recordings with synthesized components.
You select carriers and modulators, then shape pitch, duration, gain, and amplitude envelopes. These controls allow precise design of each sonic element, from the initial crack to the low-frequency thump. The randomization tools help create natural variation across many shots, essential for realistic weapon sounds.
Effects and Sequencing
The effects panel provides a chain of processors: EQ, compression, limiting, saturation, ring modulation, flanging, transient shaping, and noise gating. You can use these to subtly polish or aggressively distort the sound. Effects can be chained in complex signal flows, and each engine output can be routed separately for further processing.
The built-in timeline allows sequencing and offsetting the engine layers for precise micro-timings. Burst mode turns single-shot assets into automatic weapon loops, with adjustable fire rate. The Drunk button randomizes timeline sequences, ensuring subtle differences between shots, useful for rapid-fire or realistic volleys.
Workflow and Integration
Weaponiser Basic is designed to fit into existing sound design pipelines. Individual engine outputs can be sent to a mixer for dynamic adjustment and then rendered for export. This allows you to combine the plugin’s internal processing with your favorite external plugins for a hybrid workflow.
MIDI triggering enables you to perform or program precise variations, with velocity sensitivity for expressive control. The plugin supports VST, AU, and AAX formats, so it works across major DAWs. The ability to render layers directly facilitates easy export to game engines or your DAW for final assembly.
