Users can select a vehicle and immediately perform its engine, exhaust, and movement sound effects in real time.
The system supports a hybrid workflow with Granular, Synth, One Shot, and Loop modules, letting you combine sampled sounds with synthesized textures. This flexibility means you can build everything from realistic car engines to futuristic sci-fi vehicles. The tag-driven browser makes navigating the included 1943 audio samples and 92 presets fast, so you can find the right sound without digging through folders.
Interactive Performance and Automation
Igniter is designed for hands-on control. You can perform vehicle sound effects via MIDI, adjusting revs, acceleration, brakes, and engine behavior as you watch your footage. Sketching a vehicle’s movement with your mouse or controller lets you quickly shape its on-screen action, eliminating tedious manual editing.
A built-in Doppler effect lets you instantly simulate a vehicle passing by, and you can save these movements as presets for later use or for other projects. This makes it easy to match the audio to a visual pass-by shot. You can also mix between engine and exhaust perspectives, and use the convolution reverb to switch between interior and exterior acoustics—or load your own impulse responses for a custom space.
Detailed Scene Crafting
Beyond the core engine, Igniter handles the smaller details of a vehicle scene. The One Shot tab provides a collection of samplers for loading sweeteners like car doors, windows, windscreen wipers, and interior or exterior ambiences. This allows you to deliver a complete sound design for a scene in one go, without moving to another plugin.
The Loop system lets you sequence loops along a timeline, which is ideal for designing sounds that change over time—like a vehicle moving across different surfaces or adjusting to wind speeds. This feature also works with static rev-band recordings to create loop-driven vehicle systems. For electric vehicles, there are dedicated presets and assets in the file browser, so you can generate realistic EV sounds instantly.
Expanding Creativity to Air and Future
Igniter isn’t limited to ground vehicles. It includes a large selection of aerial sound effects for helicopters, drones, and other flying machines. This makes it a versatile tool for any project that involves airborne motion, from documentary footage to blockbuster action scenes.
