A Toontrack EZX expansion for EZdrummer and Superior Drummer, offering 74 multi-sampled kick and snare drums recorded across eight Australian and UK studios, with alternate tunings and processing channels.

Purpose
This expansion focuses on the two most important drums in a mix: kicks and snares. It provides a massive, genre-spanning collection of multi-sampled instruments, each captured with multiple alternate voices and tunings, giving you roughly 130 unique drum sounds. The goal is to supply raw material for both traditional mixing and creative sound design.
Three different drummers performed the source recordings, ensuring variation in playing style and feel. Each kick and snare includes four extra processed channels—Sub, Skin Lo, Skin Hi, and Club/Stick—so you can blend your own character. A set of hats, cymbals, and toms is included to help you build a complete kit quickly.
Key Capabilities
The included 31 kicks and 43 snares span vintage and modern makes, from 18-inch to 26-inch sizes, with alternate tunings, dampening, and room treatments. You get access to rare instruments like the Ludwig 1967, Noble & Cooley, and Craviotto snares, each with unique sonic characteristics.
The four processing channels per drum allow you to dial in sub-heavy or skin-focused tones, or mix them for complex textures. Close to 100 kit presets cover traditional to experimental mixes, making it easy to find a starting point. The included MIDI grooves, performed by Darby Todd, offer backbeat-oriented patterns for quick sketching.
Workflow
In EZdrummer 2 or 3, the EZX acts as a mix-ready toolbox, letting you audition presets and tweak individual drums. For Superior Drummer 3, you gain full access to the multi-channel routing and deeper sound design options, such as layering processed and unprocessed signals.
The four extra channels per instrument enable custom blending: use the Sub channel for low-end punch, Skin Lo for body, and Skin Hi for attack, with Club/Stick for ambient or stick-heavy tones. This workflow suits engineers who want to build bespoke drum sounds from scratch or replace existing drum tracks with more character.
Practical Applications
This library is ideal for custom kit creation, sound replacement, and sound design across acoustic, pop, hip-hop, ambient, and electronic genres. The wide variety of kicks and snares means you can match a specific era or vibe, from dry and tight to massive and roomy.
Use the included toms and cymbals to assemble full kits for tracking, or extract individual drum sounds for layering into existing productions. The presets range from organic to highly processed, so you can quickly move between styles. The MIDI grooves provide a functional starting point for songwriting or demoing.
