Core Replacement and Triggering

Drumagog 5 Pro is built around an advanced triggering engine that accurately tracks complex drum performances, including rolls, flams, and even left versus right-hand hits. It is also capable of detecting hi-hat articulations such as open, half-open, and closed, a feature unique to this product. This precision ensures that the replacement samples follow the original performance with minimal timing errors.

To reduce false triggers from bleed, Drumagog offers Automatic Bleed Reduction, which prevents leakage from other drums from causing unintended hits. Additionally, it includes a full-featured trigger filter section with high-pass, low-pass, band, and band-reject filters, each with adjustable frequency, level, and Q. This level of control allows engineers to isolate the desired drum sound from a busy mix.

Alignment and Phase Coherence

The exclusive Auto-Align 2.0 algorithm uses Full-Wave Alignment to phase-align replacement samples with the original drum hits. Unlike simple transient alignment, which can cause comb filtering, this approach aligns the entire waveform for overall phase coherence. This preserves the original fidelity of both the recorded hits and the samples, preventing artifacts that occur with traditional methods.

Developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, the algorithm automatically determines the best alignment for each hit, ensuring consistency across all hits and samples. If traditional transient alignment is preferred, the Auto-Align feature can be turned off, giving the user flexibility. This makes Drumagog suitable for both creative replacement and straightforward sample augmentation.

Deep Sample Control and Enhancement

Drumagog Pro provides complete information on every sample, including whether it is a left or right-hand hit. Users can solo, mute, play, delete, and reorganize samples within the interface. Parameters such as pitch, level, and articulation can be adjusted and automated per sample or across all samples, allowing for dynamic and expressive drum programming.

Dynamic Tracking forces samples to be all soft, all loud, or anywhere in between, giving control over the response to velocity. Stealth Mode allows the original audio to pass through until a trigger threshold is reached, useful for replacing only louder hits or allowing track leakage. Auto Ducking can extract a snare from an overhead track while leaving other sounds intact.

Matched Room Samples and Synth

Drumagog 5 is unique in its handling of multiple samples triggered from a single drum hit. Instead of pairing direct samples with generic room samples, it matches each direct sample with its exact room sample recorded at the same time and in the same room. This ensures that the timbre and dynamics of the room sound are perfectly reproduced, and with Auto-Align, phase coherence remains intact.

A drum-optimized synthesizer is included for adding sizzle, depth, and power to drums. It features an oscillator generating sine, square, or sawtooth waves with attack, decay, low-pass filter, and resonance controls. A unique noise generator allows control over the amount and fundamental frequency of noise, enabling everything from subtle overtones to complex sounds that complement acoustic drums.
