It combines a traditional DAW with a unique modular Rack, letting you route audio and CV between virtual instruments, effects, and utilities. The core workflow centers on the Rack: a collection of hardware-style synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, and effects. Wire devices in any configuration to build custom signal chains and unique sounds. Reason also works as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin, allowing the Rack to be used inside other DAWs.

The new RV-9 Reverb Station replaces the RV7000 with nine algorithms, including realistic rooms, granular textures, spectral reverb, and Echoverb. High-quality real-time time stretching works across the entire project for flexible arrangement.
Live sampling captures audio on the fly directly within the samplers—record a sound and play it immediately from the keyboard without export or import. The SSL 9000k-modeled mixer offers full channel strips, flexible routing, dynamics, EQ, group and parallel channels, and a master-bus compressor. Blocks provide a structural view for arranging song sections.
